11/4/16 - season opener- Lanc PGA Fleetwood 73 (+1) T6th

The season was finally here and I was ready for action. The day after the brilliant Masters final day. I had a very colourful day with the score. Conditions were dry but windy. I had been working very hard on my short game and the greens were in good condition to test the new putting stroke.

I started brilliantly with birdie, birdie for the first 2 holes. I dropped a shot on the par 3, 3rd as I misjudged the wind and flew it a little long over the back. I bounced back to birdie the 4th so -2 through the first 4 holes was a great start. I had 2 double bogies the first coming on a long par 4 into the wind and I hit my drive into a fairway bunker and I was struggling to get up to the green in 3 shots. The next came on the 7th hole again I had 3 wood into a par 4 green and just pulled it slightly but finished out of bounds.

I kept the score going well and some misjudged approach shots cost me 2 bogies up 16 & 17. All in all I was happy to have 7 birdies in total as the putter was working well but my long game was a little off. I have booked in for a fitting session with my clubs so I am going to look and see if some different launch conditions (spin numbers, shaft flex and head design) can help.

Onto the next event at Pike Fold on 26/4/16 but feeling confident I can actually hole some putts!
